【妖怪説明】
山梨県を舞台とした話。

富士山の麓に住んでいた竹取の翁が竹を刈っていると竹の中に鶯の卵があるのを見つけた。持ち帰って温めると容顔美麗の姫君になったので鶯姫と名付けて育てた。

ある日、夫婦が田を作るのに忙しくしているにもかかわらず鶯姫は知らん顔だったので、婆が
「普段ならともかく、こう忙しい時は手助けしなさい」と諭した。
すると怒った鶯姫は家を飛び出し、富士山に登って岩を蹴破って湯を流して麓の田を焼け野原にした。
老夫婦は恐ろしくなり白根ヶ峰に逃げ、田にいた馬も駒ヶ嶺へ逃げていった。この馬は老夫婦のことを忘れずその後も通って親しんだので、この地を飼国と呼び、のちに甲斐国になったのだという。

【UGUIISUHIME~Warbler princess~】
A story set in Yamanashi prefecture.
There was an old man named Bamboo Cutter who lived at the foot of Mt. Fuji. When he was cutting bamboo, he found a bush warbler's egg in the bamboo. He took it home and warmed it up. The egg became a beautiful girl. He named her daughter UGUISUHIME and raised her.

One day, a couple was busy making rice fields. But her daughter did not help. Her grandmother said to her daughter, "You must help us when we are busy."
Then she got angry and ran out of her house. She climbed Mt. Fuji, kicked over rocks, drained hot water, and turned the rice fields at the foot of the mountain into burnt fields.
The old couple became frightened and fled to Shirane-gamine. The horses in the fields also fled to Komagamine. This horse did not forget the old couple and became familiar with them even after that, so it is said that this area was called KAIKOKU (飼国= breeding country), and later it became KAIKOKU (甲斐 country).
